Caitlin McElroy

Caitlin McElroy received her early training at Lowe Dance Studio in Voorhees, NJ, and at age 16 was accepted into the year round training program at The HARID Conservatory in Boca Raton, Florida. After graduating, Caitlin spent two years furthering her ballet education in the Graduate Program at Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre School, where she performed in ballets such as The Nutcracker, The Great Gatsby, and Alice in Wonderland with the professional company.

In 2009 she joined the Atlantic City Ballet under the direction of Phyllis Papa and has enjoyed dancing in a wide variety of roles, her favorites being Arabian in The Nutcracker, Lucy Westenra in Dracula, and Helena in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. She has toured with the company all over New Jersey, New York, Georgia, Arizona and California. Caitlin has also performed contemporary works with Allegory Dance Theater.

Caitlin has been teaching ballet in the South Jersey area for over 10 years and is so thankful to be able to share her passion for ballet with the amazing Powerhouse community!

A note from Caitlin:

“I like to keep my classes challenging, yet fun, so you’re left feeling accomplished when you walk out of the studio. I try to pack as much technique as I can into my classes - Ballet does not have to be boring! I’m all about musicality and like to use albums full of classical covers of your favorite songs to keep things entertaining. It’s so important to me as a dancer to listen to my body, and I encourage my students to listen to theirs and give it what it needs that particular day - whether that’s modifying a combination to make it a little easier, or giving yourself that extra challenge on relevé! I will always provide options to make the class your own.”
