Dates of Series: Sundays 1/5, 1/12, 1/26 and 2/2 from 11:15am-12:45pm.

Pricing: $150 for the entire series. Registration is required for all 4 sessions as this series is progressive and builds week-to-week.

Cancellation Policy: Cancellations must be made in Mindbody by Sunday 12/29 to receive a refund. Cancellations made after this date are not entitled to a refund. Credits will not be issued for missed classes.

Class Description: Open to dancers 18+. This series is geared towards dancers who have never taken ballet before or are new to ballet. We will be starting with the absolute basics of ballet and building up key foundational steps. Over the course of these 4 weeks, you will learn a basic understanding of ballet vocabulary, movement, and structure that will provide the tools necessary to take a beginner/advanced beginner class with confidence. No experience is required for this class.

Week 1: We will begin with a brief history of ballet and discuss the structure of a standard ballet class. You will learn the five body positions in ballet, as well as basic ballet vocabulary.

Week 2: We will recap what we learned in Week 1, plus add on to terminology and movements at the barre, in center, and across the floor.

Week 3: We will continue to build upon vocabulary and steps, as well as begin to learn the foundations of ballet turns.

Week 4: We will combine all that we have learned so far and complete a full ballet class. We will also begin to play with tempos.

Level: This is a Pure Beginner level series. Zero dance experience is expected and welcomed for this level. If you have never danced or you feel like you have two left feet, this level is for you! In this level, you will learn the basic and foundational steps of the style. Class will be taught at a slow enough pace to allow dancers an opportunity to grasp movements and concepts. There will be a clear breakdown and instruction of movement. Learning fundamentals will be the focus of class, as opposed to learning choreography. However, some choreography may be taught at this level. If so, it will be with minimal complexity and slower tempos. We typically only offer this level of class within a multi-week series, as opposed to in a drop-in, single class format.

Beginner Heels 4-Week Series with Adrianna Poindexter

Sign up HERE!

Dates of Series: Mondays 2/3, 2/10, 2/17 and 2/24 from 8pm-9pm.

Pricing: $100 for the entire series. Registration is required for all 4 sessions as this series is progressive and builds week-to-week.

Cancellation Policy: Cancellations must be made in Mindbody by Monday 1/27 to receive a refund. Cancellations made after this date are not entitled to a refund. Credits will not be issued for missed classes.

Class Description: Open to dancers 18+. Join us for a 4-week progressive series for dancers who are new to dancing in heels or who want to revisit the basics! Some dance training is helpful but pure beginners are welcome (however, pure beginners without any dance training can expect to feel challenged, especially if learning and retaining choreography is new to you).

Weeks 1 & 2 - Introduction to Heels: These classes will focus on balance, stability, strengthening, and getting acclimated to moving in a heel. We will discuss proper footwear, injury prevention and learn some ankle strengthening exercises. During the across-the-floor, there will be an emphasis on walking, shifting our weight, and finding the proper engagement needed throughout the leg to support ourselves in a heel. We will cover the importance of lines and bevels with some drilling exercises to get everyone used to the correct lines and shapes you’re supposed to create. We will end these classes with a short choreography combo that will combine all the elements we discussed in class.

Week 3 - Choreography: This class will be more choreography-focused than the previous ones, with a longer combination. It will be more stylized, so that everyone can begin to use what we learned in Weeks 1 & 2 and put it into practice when dancing.

Week 4 - Floorwork and Freestyle: This class will have a combo that has a floorwork section. We will talk about transitions to the floor, as well using all the elements from Weeks 1, 2 & 3 to make sure we are still creating proper lines while dancing on the floor. We will also dip a little bit into freestyle.

Level: This is a Beginner level series. Zero dance experience is expected and welcomed for this level. If you have never danced or you feel like you have two left feet, this level is for you!
